Gaming Addiction Therapy

Excessive gaming can begin as a normal hobby but, for some individuals, it can develop into a pattern that impacts sleep, school, work, relationships and mental health.

I provide evidence-based psychological support for adolescents and adults experiencing problematic gaming, helping them regain balance and control. For younger clients, sessions often involve working collaboratively with parents to implement practical strategies at home.

Sessions are available in-person in Melbourne and via telehealth. See referrals page.

Screen Addiction & Digital Overuse

Many people struggle with excessive use of phones, social media, and online content. While technology is part of everyday life, overuse can impact attention, mood, sleep and overall wellbeing.

Common concerns include:

  • Constant phone checking or “doom scrolling”

  • Difficulty concentrating without digital stimulation

  • Sleep disruption due to device use

  • Reduced motivation for offline activities

  • Feeling dependent on screens for relaxation or escape

I provide therapy to help individuals develop a healthier relationship with technology. See referrals page.

Screen Use in Children & Teenagers

Children and adolescents are particularly vulnerable to the effects of excessive screen use, as their brains are still developing. Difficulties with attention, behaviour, mood and motivation are often linked to patterns of digital use. See referrals page.

Common challenges include:

  • Difficulty disengaging from devices

  • Increased irritability or emotional reactivity

  • Reduced motivation for school or hobbies

  • Social withdrawal

  • Conflict at home around screen limits

Supporting young people requires a collaborative approach. Sessions may include:

  • Parent guidance and strategy development

  • Understanding behavioural patterns at home

  • Creating structured routines and boundaries

  • Supporting emotional regulation and coping skills

  • Gradual behaviour change rather than sudden restriction
